Donald Trump threatens military presence near Cuba

During a campaign rally in Fort Myers, Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that American warships could stop approximately 50 yards (45 meters) off the Cuban coast following the conclusion of the conflict in Iran. Trump stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be sent to the island to “finish the job” and negotiate an agreement with the Cuban government.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called on Cubans seeking political change to establish a “discreet partnership” with the CIA. Following these remarks, the CIA released video instructions in Spanish on social media, providing guidance for individuals wishing to contact the agency.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez rejected the threats. Díaz-Canel accused the U.S. administration of harboring ambitions of domination over Cuba, while Rodríguez described the island's coastline as an “inhospitable environment” for those arriving with hostile intentions.
