Donald Trump publishes Sen. Tom Cotton’s number in daylight saving time feud

President Donald Trump has escalated a dispute over daylight saving time by publishing the personal cellphone number of Republican Senator Tom Cotton on Truth Social. Trump urged supporters to call the Arkansas senator to demand he stop blocking the Sunshine Protection Act, legislation intended to make daylight saving time permanent across most of the United States.

The bill previously passed the House of Representatives with a 308-117 vote but has faced resistance in the Senate. Senator Cotton has emerged as a primary opponent, citing concerns for his constituents in Arkansas, specifically noting that permanent daylight saving time would require children to travel to school in the dark.

Trump argues that the biannual clock change is “ridiculous” and “discombobulates everybody.” He maintains that permanent daylight saving time would benefit the public by providing more evening sunlight, which he suggests could aid agriculture, sports, and crime reduction.
