Donald Trump pushes Gaza roadmap as Senate blocks Iran war resolution

The U.S. Senate voted 49‑50 to reject a resolution that would have forced President Donald Trump to end hostilities with Iran, a measure supported by a few Republican senators but ultimately defeated despite bipartisan opposition. The resolution, aimed at curbing the war that began on 28 February, was largely symbolic as the president retains authority to continue military actions.

President Trump later hailed a 15‑point roadmap for Gaza, describing it as a "great breakthrough" that would disarm Hamas and pave the way for a technocratic Palestinian administration. He said the plan showed progress in the Middle East and noted Israel’s approval. The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza welcomed the roadmap and pledged to assume governance responsibilities.
