Donald Trump rally in Ohio marked by protester assault and AI misinformation

Donald Trump held a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, where a protester was physically assaulted and removed from the event. While video footage confirms the woman was punched, AI-generated images depicting the incident have gone viral on social media. These fake images, created using Google and OpenAI tools, show exaggerated versions of the confrontation, including a woman in a “Release the Epstein files” T-shirt.

Political data suggests shifting sentiment in the Mahoning Valley region. New polling conducted for national Democrats in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties indicates Trump’s favorability is 11 points underwater, at 43–54. This is a notable shift from the 2024 election, where Trump won these counties by significant margins. Pollster Margie Omero attributed this decline to voters feeling Trump has failed to address economic affordability.
