Donald Trump ranks himself as ‘The Greatest’ U.S. president
Donald Trump has released a personal ranking of U.S. presidents on his Truth Social platform, placing himself in a unique top category labeled ‘The Greatest’. This ranking places him above historical figures such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, who are categorized as ‘Great’.
Other presidents included in the ‘Great’ tier are Franklin D. Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson. The list further divides leaders into ‘Near Great’, ‘Average’, ‘Below Average’, and ‘Failures’. In the ‘Failures’ category, Trump included Democratic predecessors Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Jimmy Carter, as well as Ulysses S. Grant and Warren G. Harding.
The graphic appears to be a modified version of a 1948 ranking published by LIFE magazine, which was originally based on a survey of 55 historians. While the post follows a recent CNN poll showing 53% of Republicans admire Trump most among GOP presidents, it contrasts sharply with academic assessments. For instance, the 2024 Presidential Greatness Project ranked Trump last among evaluated presidents, while placing Abraham Lincoln at the top.
