Donald Trump repays $5.7 million real estate loan

Donald Trump has paid off the remaining $5.7 million of a loan related to commercial spaces at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York City. The repayment occurred in May, amid shifts in his personal finances involving cryptocurrency investments.

The loan, which was held by the real estate finance company Ladder Capital, was a ten-year mortgage originally refinanced in July 2016. It was set to expire in August 2026, a deadline that would have required either full repayment or refinancing. While the Trump Organization manages the 44-story skyscraper, Trump’s personal holdings in the property include specific commercial spaces, a parking area, and an apartment.

This personal debt reduction occurs as the United States national debt has surpassed $40 trillion.
