Donald Trump reportedly gained $15.5 million from fossil fuel stocks

A report by the US Congressional Joint Economic Committee estimates that President Donald Trump has gained up to $15.5 million from investments in oil and gas stocks since January. The report links this wealth increase to the surge in fossil fuel stock values following the president's military actions against Iran.

According to the analysis, Trump’s holdings in companies such as Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Occidental Petroleum have seen an average value increase of 39% this year. The report further notes that Trump purchased an additional $3.6 million in oil and gas stocks during the first quarter of 2026.

Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Maggie Hassan and Senator Chris Van Hollen, have criticized the president, accusing him of profiting from a conflict that has increased costs for American consumers. The report estimates that Americans have spent an additional $71.5 billion on fuel since the start of the conflict, averaging $604 in extra costs per family. Senator Van Hollen characterized the situation as “pure corruption,” alleging that the president is benefiting from the economic suffering of the public.
