Donald Trump reports additional arrests over Reflecting Pool vandalism

On June 20, former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that more individuals have been arrested for damaging the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall. Trump described the vandalism – including a 250‑foot cut in the pool’s surface and the dumping of corrosive chemicals – as an affront to Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. He said the pool, recently renovated on June 6 with a new “American flag‑blue” water hue for the nation’s 250th‑anniversary celebrations, will be restored quickly, even if most of the water must be drained.

Trump’s messages also praised the contractors involved in the recent refurbishment, noting that the pool has never looked better since its original construction in 1922.
