A microphone left on by staff unintentionally recorded a private conversation between Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which they discussed bilateral meetings with Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later, Trump suggested the United States might reinstate sanctions on Russian oil depending on global energy market developments.

Analysts cited Trump’s claim that the United States aims to end the war in Ukraine by 4 July, linking the statement to the summit’s broader discussions on supporting Kyiv and maintaining pressure on Russia.
