Donald Trump seeks $87 billion for Iran war as oil prices fall

U.S. President Donald Trump asked Congress for $87.6 billion to finance the conflict with Iran, allocating $21 billion for ammunition, $17.3 billion for operating costs and $12.1 billion for classified programs. The request follows a Senate resolution urging Trump to halt the war, which passed with bipartisan support but is expected to face opposition in the House.

At the same time, global oil markets softened, with Brent crude dropping to around $76 per barrel, near early‑March lows. Traffic through the Hormuz Strait began to recover, with about 19 million barrels of oil reported to have passed on Monday. Trump also expressed frustration that U.S. gasoline prices were not falling and ordered the Justice Department to open an investigation into the issue.
