US Vice President JD Vance says Trump would bomb Iran only for a specific strategic aim

U.S. Vice President JD Vance told listeners of The Michael Knowles Show that former President Donald Trump is prepared to use military force against Iran, but only when it serves a clear strategic objective. He quoted, “President Trump is willing to drop bombs—but only if it serves an objective.” Vance also noted Tehran’s public denial of ongoing peace talks while technical negotiations between the United States and Iran continue.

Qatar confirmed that American envoys Steve Whitcomb and Jarrett Kousner are in Doha for low‑level technical talks with Iranian representatives. Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Galibaf said no new round of negotiations will occur until the terms of the June 17 memorandum of understanding are fully implemented, reaffirmed Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and highlighted that Iran has already exported more than 40 million barrels of oil since the U.S. naval blockade was lifted. The U.S. side warned that Iran would not be allowed to impose fees on shipping in the strait.

Both sides acknowledge that high‑level meetings are not scheduled in the immediate future, but technical contacts are proceeding with Qatar’s mediation.
