Donald Trump support falls to record low in rural United States

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted from June 3‑8 shows support for President Donald Trump among rural voters dropped to a record low of 50 percent, down from 60 percent in February 2025. Disapproval in these areas rose to 48 percent. Respondents cited rising fuel and food prices, concerns over the cost of living, and doubts about the U.S.–Israel‑Iran conflict as key reasons for the shift.

Rural voters have historically been a strong base for Trump, giving him margins 25‑40 points higher than his Democratic rivals in past elections. The decline could jeopardize the Republican Party’s hold on narrow majorities in the U.S. House and Senate ahead of the November midterm elections. Overall national approval sits at 35 percent, near the lowest level of Trump’s political career.
