Donald Trump targeted in foreign assassination plots

President Donald Trump has been the target of several credible assassination plots involving foreign-affiliated actors. Recent reports indicate that during a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, the U.S. leader was smuggled out of Air Force One in a catering truck to evade an assassination threat from Iran.

In a separate incident, Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national and Iranian government operative, was charged in November 2024. Shakeri allegedly admitted to FBI agents that he was recruited by Iranian regime officials to find a hit squad to assassinate Trump. According to a criminal complaint in Manhattan federal court, Shakeri was instructed to focus on surveilling and ultimately assassinating the former president-elect during the 2024 election cycle.
