Donald Trump targets media in social media outbursts and government-funded ads

President Donald Trump has engaged in a series of intense social media attacks against news organizations and public figures. The escalation follows an Axios report suggesting the administration might consider sanctions relief for Iran in exchange for nuclear program concessions. Trump denied the report, labeling it a fabrication and a hoax.

In addition to targeting Axios, the President released a video advertisement during NFL games, Fox News Sunday, and other broadcasts. While the White House described the video as a “public service announcement,” critics, including former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter, suggested that using public funds for such content could constitute “government-sponsored propaganda” and potentially an impeachable offense.

These digital outbursts occur amid an ongoing conflict between the administration and the press, involving previous attempts to revoke credentials for major news outlets and restrictions on journalist access to the White House.
