Donald Trump targets transgender community in White House speech
President Donald Trump addressed the transgender community during a speech at the White House, reiterating his stance against transgender women participating in female sports. During the address, Trump claimed that the presence of transgender individuals in sports had previously made the nation a subject of ridicule.
Following the speech, singer Ariana Grande criticized the administration for using her song ‘We can’t be friends’ in a TikTok video accompanying the remarks. Grande stated, ‘Never use my music again,’ and noted that the version used was ‘fake.’ This follows a previous dispute in June when Grande protested the use of her music in videos promoting ICE enforcement actions.
Trump’s speech also included claims regarding election fraud and allegations of foreign interference, specifically mentioning China. The administration continues to face scrutiny over LGBTQ+ policies, including investigations into school curricula and proposals regarding housing protections.
