Donald Trump threatens to bomb Oman over Iran negotiations
United States President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Oman if the Gulf nation interferes with ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Fox News, Trump stated that the U.S. would take military action if Oman obstructs American objectives related to the strategic waterway, which is vital for global oil transit.
Oman has been acting as a mediator, engaging in talks with Iran to establish conditions for the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait. While Iranian diplomacy reports that discussions regarding maritime passage are continuing seriously, Trump has called for Iran to “raise the white flag of capitulation.”
U.S. envoy Jared Kushner described the discussions between the U.S. and Iran as “very positive and lively,” noting that both parties are engaging seriously despite a lack of trust following years of severed relations. Kushner added that President Trump intends to be patient and will only finalize an agreement when it is deemed appropriate.
