Donald Trump to attend ASEAN Summit in the Philippines this November
U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the Philippines in November to attend the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. The summit is set to take place from November 16 to 18 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
This visit marks Trump’s first trip to the Philippines since 2017. Philippine Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed the attendance following an announcement from the White House, though specific details regarding the itinerary have not been released.
The summit coincides with the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Washington and Manila. Discussions may involve the U.S.-led Pax Silica framework, an initiative aimed at strengthening semiconductor supply chains and strategic industries. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has previously noted that the Pax Silica Initiative could bolster the Philippines’ position within the semiconductor value chain, though officials have not confirmed if a formal signing will occur during this visit.
To facilitate security and traffic management for the international gathering, President Marcos Jr. has declared November 16 to 18 as special nonworking days in Metro Manila.
