Donald Trump to attend Patriot Games in northeast Ohio
President Donald Trump is expected to visit northeast Ohio on Tuesday, August 11, to attend the final day of the Patriot Games. Hosted by SPIRE Academy in Geneva, the national youth sports competition is part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations. The event features various athletic disciplines, including football, basketball, soccer, and track, alongside military-inspired circuits. Finalists will compete for $125,000 scholarships.
The visit coincides with criticism from the advocacy group Protect Our Care regarding healthcare policy. The group issued a statement claiming that Republican-led cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act have negatively impacted Ohio, stating that the state leads the nation in the percentage of residents dropping ACA coverage. They allege these policy changes have resulted in rising premiums and the potential closure of numerous healthcare providers across the state.
