In a separate development regarding trade and industry, President Trump expressed openness to Chinese automakers entering the U.S. market, provided they invest in domestic manufacturing and create American jobs. He stated in an interview with Fox News that he would be fine with Chinese companies opening factories in the U.S., drawing a parallel to Japanese automakers. However, he remains opposed to Chinese companies using Mexico as a base to manufacture and then import vehicles into the United States.
