Donald Trump urges Minnesota residents to defend against Somali immigrants

Donald Trump has sparked controversy by urging residents of Minnesota to defend themselves against Somali immigrants following a federal terrorism indictment. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Somali immigrants are taking over the state and cited widespread violence, murder, and chaos.

The remarks follow the announcement by the FBI and the US Department of Justice that 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, a US citizen of Somali descent, has been charged in connection with a suspected plot to attack the Mall of America. Authorities allege Mohamud spent nearly two years communicating online about traveling to Somalia to join a foreign terrorist organization.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and local officials, including the Mayor of Minneapolis, have strongly rejected Trump's statements. Trump also criticized Governor Walz, labeling him an incompetent thief.
