Donald Trump uses slur to attack South Carolina Senate nominee
Donald Trump used an anti-transgender slur in a Truth Social post to attack Democratic Senate nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in South Carolina. The post, which used a version of the slur three times, was aimed at supporting his preferred Republican candidate, Darline Graham.
Trump has been actively campaigning for Graham, following the death of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham. His MAGA Inc. PAC has invested more than $800,000 to support her candidacy in the GOP primary runoff. The race, once considered a safe Republican seat, has recently been downgraded by the Cook Political Report from solidly Republican to likely Republican.
In response to the campaign environment, Dr. Andrews, a pediatrician, stated her focus remains on fighting for her patients and families by addressing costs in South Carolina. While Republicans have criticized her past support for pediatric hormone treatments, Andrews has clarified that she does not support gender-identity surgery for minors.
