Turkish Cabinet Meets in Beştepe to Review NATO Summit Outcomes

On 13 July 2026 President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired a cabinet meeting at the Beştepe presidential complex. The session was called to analyse the outcomes of the 36th NATO Leaders’ Summit held in Ankara on 7‑8 July, and to set the government’s response on a range of foreign‑policy, security and economic issues.

Key agenda items included the diplomatic repercussions of the NATO summit, particularly US‑Turkey relations after President Donald Trump’s visit, the possibility of reinstating Turkey in the F‑35 fighter programme, the status of CAATSA sanctions and the S‑400 air‑defence system debate. Regional security topics covered the Hürmüz Strait tension between the United States and Iran, the Gaza humanitarian crisis and broader Middle‑East developments. Domestic priorities centred on the “Terror‑free Turkey” initiative and measures to curb inflation, with the Finance Minister presenting the latest macro‑economic figures.

Erdoğan highlighted the high‑level participation at the summit – “over 4 800 senior diplomats and leaders from NATO‑Asia‑Pacific partners and Gulf states” – and described the event as a diplomatic success for Turkey.
