Donald Trump vows 100% US tariffs on countries imposing digital services taxes

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that any nation that imposes a digital services tax on American technology companies will be hit with a 100 percent tariff on all goods exported to the United States, and that existing trade agreements would be set aside.

The threat is aimed at European states that are considering or have already introduced such taxes, such as Poland’s proposed 3 percent levy and the United Kingdom’s existing digital services tax. Because the European Union exports €235 billion of agricultural and food products each year—with the United States the second‑largest market—economists warn that the tariffs could severely affect European farmers and food manufacturers, disrupt supply chains and provoke retaliatory measures.
