Trump threatens to abandon Europe amid French protests

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States may be forced to abandon Europe if the continent does not radically change its migration policies. Speaking at a campaign event in Kansas, Trump characterized the recent widespread unrest in France not as a mere riot, but as a “revolution.”

Trump attributed the violence and looting in French cities to mass immigration, claiming the country is being “conquered, looted, burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and communists.” He criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for failing to secure borders and suggested that without significant policy shifts, the European Union may not survive.

The protests in France, which began over student concerns and the rising cost of living, escalated into significant civil unrest. Reports indicate that the demonstrations resulted in over 1,200 arrests and approximately 150 injuries to police and security personnel.

In response to international criticism, President Macron dismissed comments from foreign leaders regarding the unrest as “stupid,” asserting that there is no evidence of foreign intervention and that the violence is a domestic issue.
