White House says Trump will not block Tate brothers' UK extradition
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters on July 23 that the administration will not intervene in the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate to the United Kingdom. She answered a question about President Donald Trump’s possible role with a brief “No.”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said the government has no part in the case, stating, “There is no role for us to play at this stage, and perhaps never.” The brothers, who are dual U.S.–U.K. citizens and vocal supporters of Trump, were arrested in Miami on July 18 after British prosecutors added dozens of new sexual‑crime charges, including rape, sex‑trafficking and child‑pornography offences. In total they now face 59 counts – 42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan – stemming from alleged assaults between 2010 and 2017. Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, described the arrest as “politically motivated.” The Tate brothers have also been investigated in Romania for related offenses, but the current U.S. decision focuses solely on the pending UK extradition.
