Donald Trump’s $1 B Crypto Income Sparks Conflict‑of‑Interest Concerns
A 927‑page financial disclosure filed with the Office of Government Ethics reveals that President Donald Trump and his family earned more than $1 billion last year from cryptocurrency ventures. Over $500 million came from World Liberty Financial, a firm co‑founded by family members, and more than $600 million was generated by sales of the Trump‑branded meme coin.
Former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter said the earnings create a “clear conflict of interest” and would be prohibited for other executive‑branch officials under federal law. The White House denied any conflict, calling the United States the “crypto capital of the world,” while Trump says outside institutions manage his investments.
