Donald Trump’s approval rating falls to historic low amid Iran war

President Donald Trump’s approval rating slipped to a historic low, with only 35% of Americans approving his performance and 60% disapproving. The Economist’s YouGov‑based tracker recorded a net rating of minus 25 points, the worst for any president since the survey began in 2009.

The decline is linked to public dissatisfaction over the ongoing conflict with Iran and its impact on the economy. Gasoline prices remain elevated—around $4.24 to $4.48 per gallon—while inflation and higher living costs dominate voters’ concerns. About three‑quarters of respondents rate the economy as “average” or “poor,” and many cite the Iran war as a “wrong decision.”

The poor ratings pose challenges for the Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections, with analysts warning that the discontent could affect swing districts and Senate races. Despite the dip, Trump continues to wield influence within the GOP, backing candidates who still win primaries.
