Donald Trump's Freedom 250 youth sports competition begins in Ohio

Youth sports competitions organized by Freedom 250, an initiative created by Donald Trump to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, have commenced in Geneva, Ohio. The event features 120 participants, consisting of one boy and one girl aged 14 to 17 representing each U.S. state and territory.

The competition includes physical challenges such as an obstacle course inspired by military training, team sports like tug-of-war, and a presidential fitness test. The winning pair will share a $250,000 educational scholarship. White participants reportedly make up approximately 90 percent of the competitors.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced that President Trump is expected to attend the finals at the SPIRE Academy on Tuesday, August 11. While organizers describe the event as a way to honor the next generation of American leaders, the Washington Post noted that the competition drew criticism and comparisons to the fictional ‘Hunger Games’ due to its selection process.
