Donald Trump’s Iran remarks lift US markets as Amazon tops $3 trillion valuation
US equity indexes closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining more than 690 points (up 1.32% to 53,178.41), the S&P 500 rising 1.48% to 7,600.50 and the Nasdaq climbing 2.13% to 25,913.90. Technology shares led the rally: Amazon rose 4.6%, pushing its market value above $3 trillion for the first time; Meta gained 6%, Alphabet 4.4%, Microsoft 4.9% and Nvidia 2.9%. Investors cited recent earnings from Microsoft and Amazon and expectations for upcoming AI‑related results.
President Donald Trump used social media to say an outline for an Iran agreement had been reached, pausing planned attacks and continuing negotiations, calling the talks Iran’s “last chance.” In a separate statement he claimed the United States Navy and a U.S. blockade fully control the Hormuz Strait, asserting that Iran cannot move any shipments through the waterway.
