Donald Trump’s Manufacturing Job Losses Spotlighted in New AI Poster

The U.S. Labor Department posted an AI‑generated image that casts President Donald Trump as a mafia‑style figure dubbed “The Jobfather,” claiming the nation is in the midst of a manufacturing renaissance. Official data contradicts the claim, showing a loss of roughly 75,000 to 100,000 manufacturing jobs since Trump returned to office and a slight rise in the unemployment rate to 4.2 % in June, while labor‑force participation fell to its lowest level since March 2021.

Economists have criticized Trump’s tariff strategy, noting that it has not reduced the trade deficit and has coincided with a decline of about 80,000 manufacturing jobs. American Enterprise Institute senior fellow Desmond Lachman described the continued tariff push as “literal insanity” and warned it will likely add to inflation and hurt long‑run growth. The Supreme Court recently struck down a previous tariff measure, but the administration has moved forward with new import duties despite the court’s ruling.
