Donald Tusk defends Polish soldiers' contribution to Afghanistan mission

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has issued a strong defense of the Polish military's commitment to international alliances following remarks by the U.S. Pentagon chief regarding the contributions of NATO members to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

During a government meeting, Tusk read aloud a personal text message from a woman who served in Afghanistan. The message detailed her experience providing medical aid to Americans using Polish medicines and requested that allies stand up for soldiers, noting the loss of Polish personnel during the mission.

Tusk emphasized that Poland has consistently stood shoulder-to-shoulder with its closest allies, including the United States, out of a sense of loyalty and alliance obligations. He stated that it is unacceptable for the efforts and sacrifices of Polish soldiers to be disregarded.
