Donaumoos moorland development highlighted by new information boards
The Donaumoos-Zweckverband has installed 13 new information boards to showcase the development of the Donaumoos, the largest moorland area in southern Germany. The project, funded through the Integrated Rural Development (ILE) regional budget, aims to provide accessible information to the public regarding various ecological and environmental processes.
The boards cover a range of topics beyond moorland protection, including flood management, meadow-breeding bird species, grazing projects, and various environmental solution approaches. Key locations for the boards include Obermaxfeld, the Paludi experimental area near Lampertshofen, Moosberg in Langenmosen, the Sandizell retention area, and the Donaumoos gauge in Ludwigsmoos, among others.
According to Association Manager Michael Hafner, the goal is to bring people closer to the development of the Donaumoos by providing low-threshold information. The initiative was supported by several partners, including the municipalities of Königsmoos and Langenmosen, local water associations, and the State Association for Bird and Nature Conservation.
