Doncaster St Leger meeting features Musical Times victory

The St Leger meeting at Doncaster has commenced, featuring several high-profile races. In the Group Two May Hill Stakes, the Godolphin-owned Musical Times secured a dominant seven-length victory under jockey William Buick. Trained by Charlie Appleby, the filly is being noted as a strong contender for next season’s 1000 Guineas. Additionally, Waardah claimed victory in the Park Hill Stakes for trainer Owen Burrows.

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the 250th edition of the historic Group 1 St Leger Stakes is scheduled for September 12, 2026. As the oldest of the United Kingdom’s five Classic races, the event remains a major focal point for the betting industry. Early ante-post markets for the 2026 race show Christmas Day and Enceladus as the leading contenders.
