Donegal authorities investigate pins found in Halloween sweets

Gardaí are investigating reports of needles and pins being concealed inside Halloween treats in the Ballybofey and Stranorlar areas of County Donegal.

Two parents reported the incidents after trick-or-treating. Savannah McDaid discovered small metal pins inside four different sweets, including chocolate and chewy bars, after using a magnet to check the candy. Philippa Falls reported that her son also found a pin embedded in a chocolate bar.

The parents expressed shock and concern over the safety of the children, noting that the pins appeared to have been carefully pushed through the wrappers. The incidents have prompted warnings to parents to inspect all sweets collected during the holiday.
