Dong Nai community charity stand provides free goods for nearly a decade

For nearly a decade, a “zero-dong stand” in the Binh Phuoc ward of Dong Nai, Vietnam, has provided essential goods to vulnerable community members. Every Sunday morning, the initiative operates at the Tan Xuan 1 Culture House, offering free staples such as rice, instant noodles, vegetables, and tubers to lottery sellers, informal workers, and those facing financial hardship.

Organized largely by the local Women’s Union, the project relies on donations from market traders in Dong Xoai, personal garden produce, and contributions from various benefactors. In addition to food, the stand distributes used clothing and uniforms in good condition.

Hoang Thuy Vu, vice president of the Binh Phuoc urban district People’s Committee, noted that resources mobilized for this model over the past decade exceed $76,923. The initiative continues to function even during national holidays, driven by the goal of connecting community love and spreading solidarity.
