Dong Nai hosts century-old durian tree

In Dong Nai, Vietnam, a century-old durian tree has become a notable feature of a local orchard owned by Ha Van Loi. The tree stands approximately 30 meters tall with a trunk diameter wide enough to require three people to encircle it.

Due to the extreme height of the tree, the fruit cannot be harvested by climbing. Instead, the owner must wait for the durians to fall naturally. During harvest periods, workers must collect the fruit quickly and immediately move away from the tree's radius to avoid injury from falling fruit.

The orchard, located in Binh Loc ward, originally consisted entirely of traditional seed durian trees. While many trees in the 1.7-hectare garden are between 70 and 80 years old, this specific specimen is over 100 years old. Recently, the market price for these traditional durians has increased, attracting various traders.
