Tay Ninh police arrest woman for 937.5 million VND fraud

Police in Tay Ninh province have arrested and detained L. T. K. N. (born 2000) for fraud after she allegedly deceived her romantic partner of nearly 1 billion VND.

According to investigators, N. fabricated a story claiming her father was critically ill to solicit funds from her partner, T. M. H. V. To increase credibility, N. created fake TikTok accounts posing as doctors and shared internet images of hospital emergency rooms and medical bills. Between July and August 2026, V. transferred a total of 937.5 million VND to N.

N. reportedly used the stolen funds for online gambling, losing most of the money. To maintain the deception and suggest she could repay the debt, N. also faked a real estate transaction, creating fraudulent deposit contracts and using a fake Zalo account to impersonate a home buyer for a 2.8 billion VND property. The fraud was uncovered after V. became suspicious of N.'s refusal to allow visits to the supposedly ill father.
