Dong Nai orders restoration of Buong River to combat flooding

The Dong Nai People's Committee has issued an urgent directive to address severe flooding in the Buong River area of Phuoc Tan Ward. The flooding, which has significantly impacted local residential areas such as Huong Phuoc, is linked to the construction of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway.

Authorities have ordered contractors to dismantle temporary structures, including temporary bridges and culverts used for the expressway's first component project, to restore the Buong River's natural state by September 30. The directive also mandates a re-evaluation of the project's transverse and longitudinal drainage systems to ensure the expressway does not obstruct natural water flow.

Long-term solutions are being sought, with the Department of Agriculture and Environment tasked to propose a comprehensive drainage plan for the entire Buong River basin by October 15. Additionally, local ward officials must identify and remove illegal constructions or obstacles that impede the river's natural flow.
