Dong Nai police investigate case of 14-year-old girl giving birth

Police in Trang Dai Ward, Dong Nai, are investigating a case involving a 19-year-old male, C. C. R., following reports that a 14-year-old girl became pregnant and gave birth.

The girl, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, reportedly had a romantic relationship with R., a resident of An Giang currently living in Dong Nai. The two engaged in sexual intercourse at R.'s residence, resulting in the girl giving birth at a local medical facility in August 2026. R. has admitted to his involvement in the incident.

Initial investigations by local authorities suggest the case may fall under Article 145 of the Penal Code, regarding “Sexual intercourse or other sexual acts with a person aged between 13 and under 16.” Police are currently gathering evidence and strengthening the case file for legal processing. Authorities have issued warnings to families to increase supervision and education regarding reproductive health and sexual safety for minors.
