Dong Nai police probe illegal residency and fraud ring

Dong Nai police have requested the prosecution of several individuals involved in an organized ring that facilitated illegal residency for foreigners in Vietnam. The investigation follows inspections of 12 accommodation facilities in the Tran Bien and Tam Hiep wards, where authorities discovered 43 foreigners residing without legal entry documents or proper temporary residence declarations.

Investigators identified Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh and Li Kun, a Chinese national, as key organizers. Linh reportedly managed rental contracts, payments, and facility maintenance to provide housing for foreigners, some of whom were in the country to conduct livestream sales.

The case has expanded to include related criminal activities. Three Chinese nationals—Han Xu, Lin Kang Ling, and Song Yue Qi—were charged with gambling. Additionally, Linh and her associates are under investigation for using electronic means to defraud an American citizen by promoting a fake Tesla charging station, resulting in a loss of approximately 1,090.21 USDT.
