Dong Thap allocates massive funds for housing and digital transformation

Dong Thap province has approved an adjusted housing development program for the 2021–2030 period, requiring approximately 350,142 billion VND. The plan aims to develop between 241,000 and 308,000 housing units, targeting a total floor area of 29 to 39 million square meters. The strategy emphasizes integrating residential spaces with industrial zones, logistics, and service hubs to align with urbanization and industrialization trends.

In tandem with physical infrastructure, Dong Thap is investing over 1,000 billion VND in 2026 for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. This funding, representing 3.14% of the total provincial budget, aims to transition local governance toward a data-driven model where information is standardized and utilized for real-time decision-making and AI applications.

On a broader scale, experts note that recent credit policy adjustments by the State Bank of Vietnam are providing much-needed support for the real estate market. Specifically, excluding certain hospitality and resort debt from the real estate credit growth limit is expected to increase liquidity and improve market sentiment for large-scale projects.
