Dong Thap police arrest man for robbery after social media meeting

Dong Thap provincial police have arrested Nguyen Thanh Nam, born in 1993, for robbery. The suspect used Facebook to establish contact with a victim, Ms. D. T. M. C., and arranged a meeting under the guise of conversation.

During the meeting, Nam transported the victim to a deserted area near the Hung Vuong Square embankment. He then physically assaulted her and threatened her life to prevent her from calling for help. Nam successfully stole a mobile phone and approximately 800,000 VND before fleeing the scene.

The victim later identified the suspect via Facebook and coordinated with authorities to facilitate his arrest. Upon apprehension, Nam admitted to the crime. Police recovered the stolen phone and confirmed that Nam tested positive for narcotics. The investigation is ongoing.
