Dong Thap Police warn businesses on workplace surveillance compliance
Dong Thap Provincial Police have issued a notice to businesses regarding the use of surveillance cameras and monitoring software in the workplace. While the use of technology to ensure security and manage operations is legal, companies must comply with personal data protection regulations.
Under Decree No. 330/2026/ND-CP, which takes effect on August 19, 2026, businesses that collect personal data—such as images, location, or activity information—without clearly notifying and ensuring employees are aware of these measures may face administrative penalties. Specifically, violations involving the use of tracking software or surveillance cameras without transparency can result in fines ranging from 50 million to 70 million VND.
