Donghae City expands local currency incentives and tourism support

Donghae City is implementing several measures to stimulate the local economy and support small businesses throughout September. The city has increased the incentive rate for its local currency, Donghae Pay, from 10% to 15%. For those recharging the maximum monthly limit of 500,000 won, this provides a benefit of up to 75,000 won. Additionally, using Donghae Pay at 57 designated “good price stores” offers an extra 5% benefit, bringing the total potential incentive to 20%.

To further boost the local economy, the city is resuming its group tourism incentive program, which had been paused due to budget exhaustion earlier this year. Starting in September, the program will provide support for groups of 20 or more people per bus, offering 200,000 won for day trips and 400,000 won for overnight stays, subject to budget availability. These efforts coincide with the Chuseok holiday and the 39th Donghae Mureung Festival, aiming to create a cycle of consumption that benefits local merchants and tourism sectors.
