Dongjak-gu holds song contest to create district anthem

Dongjak-gu in Seoul has announced the ‘Dongjak Song Contest’ to create a representative song that residents can enjoy and relate to. The competition aims to discover music that captures the identity and charm of the district, incorporating its history, natural landmarks like the Han River and Yongyangbongjeojeong, and the current administration's strategic goals.

The contest features three categories: integrated lyrics and composition, lyrics only, and composition only. Submissions must align with the district's vision and its six strategic objectives, which include AI administrative innovation, urban renewal, and creating sustainable futures.

Applications are open from August 28 to September 16. The selection process involves two stages: an initial review by officials and external judges, followed by a final vote where residents account for 60% of the decision and employees for 40%. Winners will be announced on October 2. The selected song will be used for district-hosted festivals, office announcements, and various community events.
