Dongjak-gu launches campus counseling to protect youth rental contracts
Dongjak-gu is launching a ‘Visiting University Campus Counseling Center’ at Chung-Ang University on October 1 to support single-person households with rental contracts. Given that youth make up 58.3% of the district's single-person households due to the presence of three local universities, the initiative aims to mitigate housing instability and prevent jeonse (lump-sum deposit) fraud.
Professional real estate agents, acting as ‘Housing Safety Managers,’ will provide on-site consultations for students and young professionals without requiring prior appointments. Beyond the campus event, the district offers year-round services including contract consultation, housing search support, and accompaniment during house viewings and contract signings.
To assist those already affected by fraud, Dongjak-gu provides relief measures such as moving expenses, litigation costs, and temporary housing support. To date, the district has distributed approximately 340 million won across 560 cases to strengthen the housing safety net for single-person households.
