Dongwha Electrolyte Hungary permit annulled in Sóskút

A secondary environmental authority has annulled the unified environmental permit for the Dongwha Electrolyte Hungary Kft. plant located in the Sóskút industrial park. The decision follows appeals from the local municipality and the Sóskúti Civil Kör Association.

The authority determined that the initial permit for the planned production of 23,500 tons of electrolyte per year was incorrectly granted. The production process requires an independent environmental impact assessment and should not have been bundled with the existing permit for hazardous waste recycling. Because the documentation treated both activities as a single unit, their individual environmental impacts could not be properly assessed.

To rectify these deficiencies, the company must submit a new application supported by fresh documentation and undergo a new procedure. The authority also raised professional concerns regarding water supply, wastewater treatment, groundwater pollution, technological compliance, and noise and vibration protection. While the annulment of the permit does not constitute a permanent closure of the factory, the company must address these identified flaws to secure future authorization.
