Donja Jablanica railway accident marks eighth anniversary

The eighth anniversary of the tragic railway accident in Donja Jablanica will be observed this Saturday, August 22. The incident is recognized as one of the most severe post-war accidents in the region.

Three individuals lost their lives: Fehmin Turčinović and Jasmin Čerenić died at the scene, while Haris Karić passed away on September 2 at the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo due to his injuries. Driver Božidar Jurenić survived by jumping from the train at the last moment.

Željeznica FBiH expressed deep sorrow for the loss of their colleagues, describing them as top professionals. A monument was erected in Rajlovac by colleagues to serve as a symbol of remembrance. The organization emphasized that the anniversary serves as a reminder of the responsibilities of railway work and the necessity for continuous investment in infrastructure, vehicles, and staff training to ensure safety.
