Donka Nalbanova appointed interim director of Old Plovdiv Institute

Donka Nalbanova has been appointed as the interim director of the Municipal Institute ‘Old Plovdiv’. Nalbanova, who previously served as a chief expert in the Plovdiv Municipality’s Department of Culture, Archaeology, and Cultural Heritage, was introduced to the institute’s team by Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov and Deputy Mayor Plamen Panov.

She succeeds Professor Elena Kantareva-Decheva, who stepped down on October 16 due to retirement. Nalbanova will hold the position until a formal competition is held to select a permanent director. The municipality is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Culture to establish the criteria for this selection process.

Key upcoming challenges for the institute include the renovation of the Ancient Theatre, Balabanova House, the Roman Stadium, and Pamporova House, as well as the modernization of tourist information centers in the Old Town.
