Donna Ganger criticizes ICE enforcement at Capitol Hill forum

Donna Ganger, the mother of Renée Good, testified at a Capitol Hill forum regarding deadly shootings by federal immigration agents. Ganger, a registered Republican who previously voted for President Donald Trump, described the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as “madness.”

Renée Good, a 37-year-old activist, was shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7. While President Trump initially claimed Good had violently run over an officer, he later expressed that he “felt terribly” about the incident after learning of the family’s political affiliations.

The forum, hosted by Senator Richard Blumenthal and Representative Robert Garcia, featured several families affected by federal agent shootings. Ganger stated she supported the administration under the impression that agents were intended to protect citizens from terrorists, rather than “take precious lives.” A CNN analysis cited during the discussion noted that at least 21 people have been shot by ICE and Border Protection personnel during the current Trump administration.
